Day 03: By a Private Helicopter: KATHMANDU - LUKLA (2,850 m). Trek to PHAKDING (2,610 m).

Your private vehicle picks you up from your Kathmandu hotel and drives you to the domestic terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport, where you skip the commercial flight lines for a VIP check-in and safety briefing before lifting off in an AS350 B3 helicopter. As you fly over terraced foothills and deep river valleys, the jagged white peaks of the Langtang and Rolwaling ranges appear within 15 minutes, leading to a smooth landing at Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla at 2,860 meters, where your private helicopter's flexibility avoids the delays common to commercial planes. After a hot breakfast of eggs, Tibetan bread, and ginger tea at a local teahouse while your porters prepare your duffel bags, you begin trekking through Lukla's ceremonial exit gate and descend 250 meters toward Phakding, passing hand-carved stone pathways, Mani walls, colorful prayer flags, and the milky-white Dudh Koshi River fed by glacier melt. You cross your first major steel suspension bridge over the Thado Koshi River with stunning views of Kusum Kanguru (6,367 m), walk through vibrant Sherpa settlements and fields of potatoes and buckwheat, and reach the halfway mark at Ghat village (2,492 m) with its beautifully painted prayer wheels and massive boulders carved with Buddhist script, remembering to always walk clockwise to the left of these sacred structures. After a final gentle uphill stretch through pine forests and a long suspension bridge over the main Dudh Koshi River, you arrive in Phakding (2,610m), check into your teahouse or luxury lodge, and enjoy a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, you can either rest in the heated communal dining hall or take a short steep side hike to the Rimishung Monastery to aid acclimatization, followed by a hearty dinner of Dal Bhat, pasta, or garlic soup and a briefing from your guide on tomorrow's challenging climb to Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital.

Day 04: PHAKDING - NAMCHE BAZAAR (3,440 m).

After breakfast in Phakding, the trek begins through pine and rhododendron forests, small Sherpa villages, and along the roaring Dudh Koshi River, starting with gentle ups and downs past places like Toktok and Benkar, where you may see waterfalls and your first clear view of Thamserku. After reaching Monjo, the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park, permits are checked before the trail descends to Jorsalle, the last stop before the steep climb ahead, where you continue through dense forest and cross the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge high above the river gorge, often surrounded by fluttering prayer flags and yak caravans. Once across, the difficult ascent to Namche begins with long zigzag trails through pine forests, requiring a slow, steady pace to adjust to the thinner air, and on a clear day you may catch your first distant glimpse of Mount Everest through the trees before the trail finally opens to reveal the stunning mountain town of Namche Bazaar, the lively center of the Khumbu region filled with lodges, cafes, bakeries, and shops, where most trekkers stay for two nights to acclimatize before continuing higher into the Himalayas.

Day 05: Acclimatization day in NAMCHE.

Today is a crucial rest and acclimatization day on the Everest Base Camp trek, allowing your body to adjust to high altitude and reduce the risk of altitude sickness before the challenging days ahead. The scenic 3-hour hike from Namche Bazaar to Syangboche (3,760m), beginning with a steep climb to the Syangboche Airstrip (3,780m) and continuing to the iconic Hotel Everest View (3,880m), where you can enjoy tea while taking in breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. From this high point, the trail descends through the Green Valley to Khunde (3,840m), home to the historic Hillary Hospital and a serene monastery overlooking terraced stone-walled fields, before connecting to the neighboring village of Khumjung (3,790m), famous for the first Hillary School and the legendary Yeti Scalp housed in its monastery. The day concludes with a scenic hillside walk offering views of Thamserku and Kantega, gradually descending back into Namche Bazaar for a well-earned rest and the chance to explore local cafés and mountain bakeries.

Day 06: NAMCHE BAZAAR – TENGBOCHE (3,860 m)

After breakfast in Namche, the trek begins with a steep climb out of the village, leading to a beautiful ridge trail toward Sanasa. Trekkers are rewarded with stunning panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Mount Everest, Lhotse, and the towering peaks of Thamserku and Kangtega. The wide cliffside path meanders through forests where Himalayan tahr and Nepal's national bird, the colorful Danphe, can often be seen. From Sanasa, the trail descends steeply through rhododendron and pine forests to the riverside settlement of Phunki Thenga, a popular lunch stop beside the rushing Imja Khola. After crossing the suspension bridge, the most challenging part of the day begins with a long, steep uphill climb through dense forests of pine, fir, and rhododendron toward Tengboche. The thinning air makes a slow and steady pace essential. At the top, trekkers pass through a stone gateway into the sacred grounds of Tengboche Monastery, the largest and most important monastery in the Everest region. Surrounded by forests and breathtaking mountain scenery, the monastery offers visitors a chance to observe monks performing traditional prayers amid golden Buddha statues, colorful thangka paintings, and the scent of incense. From the ridge at Tengboche, the sunrise and sunset views over Ama Dablam, Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse create one of the most unforgettable panoramas in the Himalayas.

Day 07: TENGBOCHE – DINGBOCHE (4,410 m)

After breakfast in Tengboche, the trek begins with a short, peaceful descent through a sacred forest to Deboche, where moss-draped rhododendrons, birch, and conifers create a quiet canopy, and wildlife such as musk deer may occasionally be seen near the trail. From there, the route follows the Imja Khola valley, crossing a suspension bridge beneath the dramatic face of Ama Dablam before climbing steadily toward Pangboche, the largest Sherpa settlement in the upper Khumbu and home to one of the region’s oldest monasteries. Continuing upward, the landscape shifts above the tree line into open alpine terrain as the trail passes through Shomare, where the air grows thinner, and the valley becomes more exposed to wind and sun. Beyond this point, the path follows a gentle but continuous ascent through the Imja Valley, crossing near the confluence of the Lobuche Khola and Imja Khola before the final approach into the broad, walled agricultural basin of Dingboche, where stone fields, yak pastures, and surrounding Himalayan peaks form a striking high-altitude amphitheater.

Trekking: 5-7 Hours | Distance: 10 km | Altitude Gain: 600 m | Altitude Loss: 130 m l Accommodation: Luxury Lodge I Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 08: Day hike to NANGKARTSHANG (5,083 m)

After breakfast in Dingboche, begin your hike to Nangkartshang for the best chance of clear weather. Since you will return to the same teahouse, leave your large backpack behind and carry only a light daypack with water, snacks, warm layers, and a camera. The trail starts behind the village, passing stone-walled yak fields and a stupa before quickly becoming a steep zig-zag ascent. It's important to walk slowly using short, steady steps—often referred to as “Sherpa pace”—because the air is thin at this altitude. After about 1.5 to 2 hours, you will arrive at a lower viewpoint around 4,800 meters. This is a lovely spot to rest and enjoy magnificent mountain views, and it serves as an excellent stopping point if you begin to feel symptoms of altitude sickness. The path becomes rockier as you make your way to the Nangkartshang summit at 5,083 meters. This summit is marked by prayer flags and offers stunning 360-degree views of peaks like Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Makalu, and Island Peak, set against deep glacier valleys. The descent is quicker but can be slippery, so take careful steps and consider using trekking poles to protect your knees. Once back in Dingboche, you'll feel more comfortable due to the lower altitude. Spend the afternoon focusing on hydration, eating well, and resting while keeping an eye out for any signs of altitude sickness. If symptoms worsen, make sure to inform your guide.

Trekking: 4-6 Hours | Distance: 5 km | Altitude Gain: 670 m | Altitude Loss: 670 m l Accommodation: Luxury Lodge I Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 09: DINGBOCHE – LOBUCHE (4,940 m)

After breakfast in Dingboche, the trek begins with a steady climb out of the valley onto a wide, open plateau where the trail gently rises and falls, offering clear views of surrounding peaks such as Ama Dablam, Cholatse, and Taweche. The path is easy to follow, but you must walk slowly because the high altitude makes breathing harder, even if the terrain feels comfortable. After about 2 to 3 hours, you descend slightly to Thukla, a small stop with teahouses, where trekkers usually rest before the hardest part of the day. From Thukla, the trail becomes very steep and challenging as it climbs up loose rocks and scree toward the Thukla Pass, requiring slow, careful steps and steady breathing. At the top, you reach the Chukpi Lhara memorial area, where stone monuments and prayer flags honor climbers who lost their lives on Everest, offering both strong views and a quiet, emotional moment. After this, the path continues along the edge of the Khumbu Glacier on rough, rocky ground, with cold winds and careful footing needed, until the landscape opens slightly and the stone settlement of Lobuche appears after about 1 to 1.5 hours more of walking.

Trekking: 4-6 Hours | Distance: 8 km | Altitude Gain: 610 m | Altitude Loss: 20 m l Accommodation: Luxury Lodge I Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 10: Hike to KALAPATHAR (5,644 m). Overnight at GORAKSHEP (5,164 m)

Early in the morning, you will leave Lobuche for the challenging but beautiful climb to Kala Patthar. The trek begins with a two-to-three-hour walk across a technical glacial moraine to reach Gorak Shep, which sits at an elevation of 5,164 meters. Once you've dropped off your gear and rehydrated, you will tackle a steep, zigzag ascent of about 400 meters up Kala Patthar. This path leads to one of the most renowned views of the Himalayas: Mount Everest, Nuptse, and the Khumbu Icefall, all illuminated by Alpenglow at sunrise. Along the way, you will pause at various viewpoints to admire and photograph nearby peaks, including Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse, as well as the stunning Khumbu Glacier below.

When you reach the rocky summit adorned with prayer flags and cairns, you will be rewarded with an incredible 360-degree view of the Everest region. This moment is the highlight of the trek, showcasing the grandeur of the Himalayas. Be prepared for low temperatures, between -10 and -14°C, and the challenges of high elevation on your return to Gorak Shep; it's important to monitor for signs of altitude sickness. However, witnessing Everest at dawn from Kala Patthar is an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Trekking: 4-6 Hours | Distance: 10 km | Altitude Gain: 690 m | Altitude Loss: 450 m l Accommodation: Luxury Lodge I Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 11: Hike to EVEREST BASE CAMP (5,364m). Trek to PHERICHE (4350m, 3hrs)

After early morning breakfast in Gorakshep, the trek to Everest Base Camp begins in about 2.5 to 3 hours and is more mentally tiring than physically demanding because the trail constantly goes up and down over the rocky edge of the Khumbu Glacier. The air is very thin, and the path feels like a harsh, icy landscape with loose stones and shifting ground, so you must walk carefully and keep a steady pace. As you get closer, prayer flags mark the approach to Base Camp, but you still cannot see the Everest summit from here due to surrounding peaks like Nuptse blocking the view. At Base Camp, you can take photos and enjoy the unique glacier atmosphere, especially during climbing season when expedition tents fill the area. After a short rest, you return the same way to Gorak Shep, which can feel harder than going up, so you need to stay focused. Once back, you should rest, eat, and rehydrate before beginning the long descent. The walk down to Pheriche takes about 3.5 to 4.5 hours, first retracing the rocky trail past Lobuche, then crossing the Thukla Pass memorial area where climbers are honored. From there, the trail becomes easier as it descends into the wider Pheriche valley, following the river until you reach the village, where a warm teahouse and lower altitude bring much-needed relief.

Trekking: 7-9 Hours | Distance: 17 km | Altitude Gain: 140 m | Altitude Loss: 1,040 m l Accommodation: Luxury Lodge I Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 12: PHERICHE – NAMCHE BAZAR (3,440 m)

After breakfast in Pheriche, the trek begins with an easy and mostly flat walk along the Imja Khola River. You'll pass mani walls and chortens while enjoying clear views of peaks such as Ama Dablam, Kantega, and Thamserku. After about 1.5 to 2 hours, you'll reach Pangboche, a traditional Sherpa village. From there, the trail descends toward the river and crosses a suspension bridge into a greener landscape filled with rhododendron and birch forests. Continuing, you will pass through Deboche and climb a steep stone staircase up to Tengboche, where you can take a break and visit the famous Tengboche Monastery, which offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. After lunch, the route descends sharply through forest trails to Phungi Thanga, a small riverside settlement. This downhill section can be tough and may be hard on the knees. The last part of the day involves a long uphill climb to Kyangjuma, followed by a scenic ridge walk along a wide trail that gradually leads back to Namche Bazaar. As you approach, the large mountain village appears in a dramatic amphitheater-shaped valley.

Trekking: 7-9 Hours | Distance: 20 km | Altitude Gain: 510 m | Altitude Loss: 1,320 m l Accommodation: Luxury Lodge I Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 13: NAMCHE – LUKLA (2,840 m)

The final trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla is a long and tiring day of about 19 kilometers, taking 7 to 9 hours, as you descend back into lower, greener valleys while still facing many ups and downs. The day begins with a steep downhill from Namche, where you carefully walk down stone steps and dusty trails until reaching the Hillary Suspension Bridge and the exit checkpoint at Jorsalle. From there, the route follows the Dudh Kosi River through Monjo and Phakding, passing forests, villages, and farmland, with Phakding serving as a good place to rest and have lunch. After Phakding, the trail continues through Ghat and Chheplung with mostly gentle terrain before reaching Thado Koshi. The final section is the hardest again, as you must climb a long, steep stone staircase up through forested slopes to reach Lukla, where passing the memorial gate marks the end of the trek and your return to the busy mountain town.

Trekking: 7-9 Hours | Distance: 19 km | Altitude Gain: 550 m | Altitude Loss: 1,130 m l Accommodation: Luxury Lodge I Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 14: By a Private Helicopter: LUKLA – KATHMANDU and transfer to Hotel in Kathmandu.

After an early morning breakfast in Lukla, the journey back to Kathmandu by helicopter begins. Flights typically operate under clear weather conditions, so passengers head to the helipad where their luggage is weighed and checked before boarding. The helicopter takes off from the Khumbu region, offering stunning aerial views of the mountains, deep valleys, and terraced hills as it leaves the Everest area and heads toward Kathmandu.

As the helicopter approaches the city, you can see the expansive Kathmandu Valley before it lands at the domestic helipad of Tribhuvan International Airport. From there, airport staff assist you in collecting your luggage and guide you to a private vehicle. Finally, you will enjoy a short drive of 30 to 45 minutes through Kathmandu traffic to your hotel, where you can check in, take a hot shower, and relax after completing your trek.
